A much sought after pet portrait artist, Mark Maier brings his complete range of coloured pencil drawings to Lauderdale House with over forty works on display. Featured in both Country Living magazine and more recently, the prestigious Country Living Fair, Mark enjoys challenging himself to draw a range of subjects, from cats and dogs to people, trees and even sheep.
It’s the varying textures of the subjects Mark chooses that people seem to enjoy and some even mistake his work for paintings, such is the multi-layered technique he employs. Several of the works on display at this exhibition are commissioned pieces where Mark has included the photograph of his subject for reference. It is often said that some of his portraits look better than the photographs he worked from!
When not busy with his commissioned work, Mark tries to discover a new subject matter to work on. Many of the works on display here are available as prints as well as several original pieces which are also for sale. If you have a particular subject matter you would like Mark to draw and a good, high quality resolution image please don’t hesitate to contact him. He’s more than up for the challenge!
