Kids in Museums Takeover Day is an annual event where galleries, historic homes, archives and heritage sites all around the country invite young people in to take over jobs normally done by adults, with the aim to empower young people and invite them to explore local museum spaces.

In 2024, we welcomed Year 3 Students from Channing Junior School to take part in Museum Takeover Day.
The theme of the day was ‘careers’ and students were able to take part in a range of jobs from Lauderdale’s past and present including designing a Tudor coin, pitching an original event for the public programme and marketing the day itself.
By offering these creative avenues into the past, pupils were able to engage with the House’s history, learn new skills and gave some a chance to visit a new place in their local area.
