Angus Anderson Exhibition 2023
Overview
Gallery
Opening Dates & Hours

Angus Anderson was Artist in Residence at Highgate Newtown Community Centre, where he ran classes for adults and children, and had a studio. The centre closed for redevelopment (it is due to reopen later this year), but the classes continued, transferring to other local sites and online during coronavirus lockdowns. He died suddenly in December 2020 and this exhibition shows some of the work left in his studio. The work features landscapes based on places he knew and loved - Wales, where he was at University; Ireland where he spent summer holidays in childhood; and the Southern Thames estuary, which he got to know over recent summers. Although much of the work is oil painting, there are also prints, watercolours and charcoal drawings.

Art was a late occupation for Angus; he trained at the Art Academy having retired from a career in local government, public policy and support for community organisations. All the money raised from sales will be donated to charities that Angus supported.
