For Gordana, photography is an intuitive expression of the artist’s inner world as triggered by the outside world, which favours a cross-genre approach.
Gordana is a Londoner who originally grew up in Split, Croatia. Her education included a classical grammar school which, besides the humanities, stressed various forms of art. She left school specializing in Croatian Naïve painting and subsequently obtained a BA in English and Italian and an MA in Applied Linguistics, going on to become a teacher.
Alongside her career, visual art has always played an important part in Gordana’s life. Her interest in photography began at the age of 16 when she won in the portrait category of a Croatia-wide competition. Since then she has been a keen amateur photographer and won competitions and awards in various photographic clubs. She is an active member of London Independent Photography, the Royal Photographic Society, and Fotoklub Split. Her work has been featured in magazines, books, calendars and postcards and been exhibited in the UK, Croatia, Indonesia, and South Korea. Retrospective is her third solo exhibition.
