Lauderdale House Society is looking to expand its Board of Trustees
Lauderdale House, a Grade II* listed building dating back to 1582 and situated in Waterlow Park, is a living centre for arts, education and heritage. We bring people together in this safe and beautiful historic space with a varied creative programme of exhibitions, classical concerts, children’s shows, jazz, family events and classes. We are also a venue for hire, hosting over 200 private social events (weddings, parties, memorials and more) every year. With no funding from the government, local council or Arts Council, our private hire programme is our primary source of income and key to bringing happiness to our communities by allowing us to offer a wide-ranging creative programme and to promote social cohesion locally.
We want to recruit new trustees with a passion for our history, our activities and our mission to make a difference to the communities we serve. We are looking for people who want to contribute to the local area, who have an ability to work effectively as a member of the Board and can support our fantastic team of staff and volunteers. We are particularly interested in candidates with backgrounds in finance, marketing, arts, heritage and/or education.
To ensure an effective and credible Board we wish to reflect our local community particularly in terms of ethnicity and cultural background. For these reasons, applications are welcome from people of all ages and from people with disabilities. We are committed to providing reasonable access adjustments as required.
Please note that, in line with most charity boards, this is a voluntary unpaid role, although we will consider applications for travel expenses and/or childcare costs to enable members to attend meetings.
