Starring cellist Hamin Kim and pianist Andrew Charity, join them for a musical performance celebrating romance.
The evening features two major sonatas which draw their inspiration from the idea of romance, plus one of Piazzolla’s Tango inspired pieces, the quintessential romantic dance duel. The Delius Sonata features a constant intertwining of melodies in both instruments, as well as his distinctive yearning harmonies, and the Grieg Sonata, a major work, was held by the composer to be an offering to his wife to rekindle their faltering marriage, although it was probably more of a display of his abilities to try to achieve wider recognition in Europe.
