Overview
Programme

The Aspidistra Drawing Room Orchestra will perform a selection of music to celebrate the New Year in style.

And not just any style, they'll be performing in palm court style. This style of music was popular a century ago when small ensembles provided the entertainment in the palm courts of grand hotels.

The Aspidistra Drawing Room Orchestra is an ensemble of string quartet, piano, flute and oboe and has been praised for their joyous interpretation of unjustly neglected Palm Court music. The names of the composers or titles of the compositions might not ring a bell anymore but this melodious music still has an immediate appeal and some of the tunes live on.
